Flash & Actionscript
Here at Dharma Media Production, we like to explore interactions between creative languages, expressions, media and techniques.
Adobe Flash and the Actionscript language offer a unique way of interacting between multimedia content, creating amazing visual effects and animations which are both accessible through the web and visually powerful and engaging.
We are also aware of limitations of Flash, in terms of usability and property of the language, and we are looking forward to experiment a stable a mature version of HTML5.
Times are not ready yest, so in the mean time we have successfully experimented and mastered a technique of integrating Flash interactive interfaces and applications into a Drupal Content Management System. It means that we an use the visual impact of Flash (especially when it comes to interact with video and VR photography) with the flexibility of a database powered content management system. Flash assets can read data from the database, which can be easily edited and updated through the friendly but powerful Drupal UI.
The best example, produced by Dario Faniglione for Birmingham City University is Shareville, a virtual town where Flash panoramas and resources and retrieved and organized through a Drupal web interface.
